Frito Lays had a promotional event this past Friday, July 20th asking the public to come up with the next great flavor. The theme of the event is called “Do Us A Flavor. The idea is anyone can make up a flavor with 3 key ingredients and enter it on Facebook.com/lays. 3 semifinalist will be chosen. Their flavors will be put on store shelves and then it’ll be up to the public to chose the final winner.

I love NYC so much that each time I see Times Square it’s like the 1st. It reminds me that I live in one of the greatest cities in the world.
I liked the vintage look of these billboards.
They were giving away free bags of chips as part of the Do Us A Flavor Promotion. I had some and I have to say it’s the freshest bag of Lays I ever had. Like they were just made. Crispy, salty, just the right amount of oil and fresh.
They even brought ad space in this mecca of lights…I love how the W Hotel looks black and white against it. Very Instagramish.
$1million or 1% of net sales if it’s higher is the prize for the winner’s flavor!

This is one of the winner’s from a previous year. ”Caesar Salad”. Sold in Australia, this chip consists of Parmesan cheese, tangy dressing, croutons and crisp lettuce. BTW Lays also has a BLT flavor. I had it and it really taste like one!
Eva Longoria will be one of the judges for the 3 semi finalists chosen.
The event was pretty cool. They were also giving away free Pepsi cola soft drinks.
People lined up to get an empty bag that they could fill up with free samples of 20 different flavors! In this pic from left to right there’s Garden Tomato Basil, Cheddar Sour Cream, Ranch, Hickory Barbecue, & Flamin’ Hot.

There were so many other flavors like Chili Limon (sold in Chicago) Sweet Southern Heat BBQ (sold in Midwest), but if Lays only knew us New Yorkers wish all the flavors were here..WE LIKE IT ALL!
The WEIRDEST THING was when I heard a girl from France say “Honey BBQ..hmmm that’s weird a mix of sweet with spicy”. I asked her if she ever tried it and she said “We don’t have this one in France.”…weird right because what would Americans do without Honey BBQ. She tried it and she thought it was interesting.
