BRAID4STYLE: THE 5 STRAND BRAID

by snapped4style on July 14, 2012

Braids are fun, young, and flirty. It’s also a great alternative for when you’re on the go instead of putting your hair in a I just rolled out of bed Snooki hair bun. I even find myself enjoying the challenge of learning how to do them and honestly once you learn how to do one you can do them all, it’s not as complicated as you think.

It always boils down to having 3 strands to work with like the traditional braid.  Why’s it called the 5 strand braid then ? Because it does have 5 strands but it ends up being 3 pieces of hair once the beginning of the braid is in place.. 2 strands on the right side 2 on the left and one in the middle. Does that make sense ?  Watch the easy how to video posted below”.  This is how I learned.

This was my 1st atttempt at the 5 strand braid…not bad I have to say.image

Cool right.  Looks like a basket weave.  In the video, “Mimi” says to divide each strand evenly.  That’s easier to do with extensions, but if you’re hair is long enough so long as you get them as even as you can or thick enough you’ll be fine.  image

This video was posted on Fashionista.com . Thank goodness for YOU TUBE tutorials, now we can all walk out of the house looking like a celeb! -Christine
